Rola might be the perfect place for you! We are a collaborative team of talented individuals currently looking for an addition to our development team who will deliver innovative and high-quality systems.

We need an analytical, results-driven, back-end developer to lead a dev team, implement new features, and optimize our current back-end applications and processes. We have completed the prototyping and beta phase of our app, and we are preparing to begin the next stage of development. During this phase, we will optimize current features and implement new ones. Our stack features a variety of interrelated technologies, and we will need to integrate new features across each of them. Your role will be to ensure this process happens efficiently and with minimal errors.

You will work in a fast-paced environment and apply creative problem-solving to build the next-generation platform for human connections.

An ideal candidate would have:

  • 5+ years of experience as a back-end developer
  • Fluency or understanding of most common languages, databases, operating systems, and cloud technology
  • Strong understanding of the web development cycle, programming techniques and tools, and predictive algorithms
  • A portfolio of software projects demonstrating robustness and efficiency
  • Great leadership, interpersonal, troubleshooting, and written/verbal communication skills
  • Excellent project and time management skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical subject matter with business leaders, product managers, and software developers
  • Ability to work independently or with a group
  • Shown understanding of Agile methodologies, such as SCRUM and Kanban
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience

Responsibilities include:

  • Understanding the product goals and strategy and effectively communicating with internal and external stake holders to establish objectives and design more functional, cohesive code to enhance the user experience
  • Planning and developing scalable system architecture for new communication and social networking features
  • Ensuring the highest standard of code is produced by team members after being thoroughly tested
  • Monitoring effective allocation of tasks - ensuring that your team can complete assigned tasks within the allocated timeline
  • With kindness and candor, providing junior and mid-level developers with critical feedback on technical performance
  • Assisting in training and mentoring junior engineers, keeping them informed on best practices and company processes
  • Maintaining systems and responding quickly with fixes to bugs and other performance issues that may arise
